Bio

Mia Scannell is a fine artist from Palm Beach County, Florida, specializing in acrylic painting. Rooted in a deep appreciation for family legacy, faith, and her South Florida upbringing, her work explores themes of spirituality, personal history, and the complexities of the inner world—drawing from emotions, dreams, and the human psyche. A recent graduate with a BFA in Fine Art from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design, Mia balances her personal studio practice with commissioned work for both small businesses and independent clients. In addition to painting on canvas, she enjoys transforming furniture and functional objects into meaningful works of art, further bridging creativity with everyday life.

Artist Statement

Growing up near the vibrant shores of Southeast Florida, I have always been drawn to bright, saturated colors that echo the warmth and energy of home. My work is a reflection of the world within me—a blend of dreams, memory, and emotion interwoven with my spiritual journey and personal history. I find inspiration in the colors and patterns in nature, the complexities of family relationships and legacy, and my evolving relationship with God.

Painting is my way of processing, questioning, and seeking connection. Through layers of color and imagery, I explore themes of faith, introspection, and the unseen forces that shape us. Whether capturing fleeting emotions, weaving in elements of theology, or honoring personal and generational stories, my work serves as both a visual journal and a bridge between the physical and the spiritual.

While my practice is deeply personal, my paintings invite viewers into their own moments of reflection—whether in nostalgia, curiosity, or a sense of wonder.
